Hipparcos catalog

Hello,

I am Celestia fan and also an OS X new cocoa programmer. I wish to write a star editor for Celestia.

Does anybody knows why the Hipparcos astrometric catalog contains 118218 stars and the stars catalog of Celestia only 112521 ?

and also why HIP 118322 is duplicated at the end of the file stars.dat ?
