ok... I'm new here...good evening everybody

I have quick question...(my father want fly in the space )
Please for quick answer!!!

I have joystick Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I can't operate it in Celestia.. ...i have pressed F8...but joystick is still disable...in Control Panel in my Win XP in "Game Controllers" is "ok" device is plugged and run good in for example MS Flight Simulator 2004. PLEASE for HELP!!!!

Noone has really looked into the Joystick interface since a LONG time. Few need it. It's probably broken or never worked

If your joystick, gamepad or controller is not working with Celestia, make sure that you have the joystick plugged in before you open Celestia. I've made that mistake a couple of times.

I can report that the joystick control is functional, but quite bare bones, in version 1.4pre6. I use a Game Elements Gge908 (made by Phillips), which mimics the Playstation 2 controller in design and funtion.

I don't think its fair to say "few need" joystick support. For one, how can we know that? And two, if there are few who use the joystick control scheme it may be because that feature is so perfunctorily implemented. I mean, it wouldn't be hard to map some functions like "follow" "orbit" or "chase" to other game controller keys, and that might broaden Celestia's appeal or even spur further innovation by newly inspired cockpit jockeys.

And I'd like to just speak up for anyone who loves Celestia, considers it an incredibly enlightening model/simulation, and who also really enjoys flying around the galaxy in "spaceship" mode using a stick. There's nothing like haunting some random corner of the galaxy, turning off the HUD, and flying it in by sight. Call me a simpleton, but I get a thrill out of just "exploring" my way back from about 3 kiloparsecs to Earth by sight alone.
