Understanding Open GL 2.0 path

If you can??t open,try http://br.f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/djansenferreira and search for saturn lights on.jpg and saturn lights off.jpg.
Look like that when I turn the render mode to Open GL 2.0 path(lights on),it appears that another light is turned on.And icy moons,like Europa and Enceladus looks so bright that it almost appears that they are emissive.Is it real or is it a bug?Does it have to do with the fact that haze don??t work in this path?
Anyway,what is the initial purpose of Open GL 2.0 path?
