The textures for the Galilean satellites that ship with Celestia are based on maps by Bjorn Jonsson. Being somewhat behind the distribution curve, I don't know if Celestia has already taken this into account, but I noticed that he's made substantial revisions to his maps of Europa and Ganymede. Based on my own experiments (and Jonsson's remarks), the new Ganymede map in particular seems a lot better than the one in Celestia:

(I'd suggest getting his permission before distributing new maps based on these, because he has an understandable desire for version control.)
