Feature Request: InfoURL called from Script

The possibility to call the URL that is stored with the InfoURL Parameter of the actual selected object (or any other URL) from within a script would be quite helpfull.

Unfortunately this is UI-specific code, so each UI would have to provide a method to call from the scripting code.

How about a common wrapper object that hides the UI-specific code?
...well, I think chris has to provide this first before script coding can be done ...I'll gonna be patient.
