New solar system Location files available for 1.3.2 versions
Posted: 06.03.2004, 16:25
Chris may already have announced this, but if so I guess I've missed it.
I see he has (some time ago!) posted my revised solar system location files for use with 1.3.2. The changes to these files are as follows:
1) Locations on 3ds objects and the new cmod models have been corrected so that they work properly with the new, corrected model versions. (Chris's plan to replace more 3ds objects with cmod in the future will not require you to download yet another version of the location files ... these files will work with future models, too.)
2) Accented characters have been restored now that Celestia can display them properly.
Obtain the updated files here:
http://www.shatters.net/~claurel/celestia/files/locations/1.3.2/
Almost all files have been affected by one or both of the above revisions - all affected files have "2" appended to their filenames. If you have a previous installation of solar system location files, you should strip out your copies of the original files and replace them, to avoid huge duplication of locations. If you have all your non-Earth solar system locations in a single extras directory, the easiest option is just to empty that directory and replace its contents with the files in IAU_locations.zip,which is available from the above URL. (But please be sure that you don't also dispose of Fridger's big Earth gazetteer file, called earth-Gazetteer-intl.ssc or earth-Gazetteer.ssc, which is not part of this add-on.)
