my wish is to see Celestia perfected and solidified
as much as possible. These are some of the things
I'd like to see post 124:
1. Workspace saved on quit - It is sometimes a pain if
your working with Celestia and re-starting the software
back and forth, that it doesn't come back up in the
last screen mode (I like 1280X1024X32 full screen, but
Celestia always starts in windowed mode).
2. Better anti-aliasing - when you get close to any star
there's a lot of black pixels around the circumference
of the star until you get close. Here are some examples:
It looks like there might be some kind of negative pixeling going on
between the star itself and the flare.jpg. Maybe.
You notice the not very smooth antialiasing along the terminator
of the shadow of Saturn on the rings. There's also an effect I've
seen where the rings have "humps" along shadow edges. Also, I
noticed that, in the shadow on the rings, the stars behind or as
bright as if there was nothing blocking their view.
And in general, the edges between high contrast imagery (like a
sunlit planet against black space is not as soft as it should be, at
least from distance.
3. The blue orbit line describing Charon's orbit around Pluto jumps
around and trembles. I haven't seen this with any other orbits.
4. I wish there was a way to impress a circular gradient on the Milky
Way (or any Galaxy) so the they are brighter towards the center. It
would add so much more to the experience. Some color would be
nice, too.
5. Stars with different sun-spot maps - I would be glad to make a
series of different maps for different type stars. I know it wouldn't be all
that easy to randomly generate sun-spots with some fractal algorythm.
6. It's one of my favorite things to do - basically looking left, right, behind
me while flying thru the local galaxy - but sometimes Celestia stops
allowing you to do that - I haven't pin-pointed it yet when it happens.
