"rogue" asteroids fixed

Post #1by ravinfinite » 01.05.2002, 00:04

the rougue asteroids (Toutatis, Geographos, Kleopatra, 1996 KY26, Bacchus, Golevka, Castalia) had missing texture coordinates for the Celestia release 1.2.4pre3 (and possibly earlier versions also).

without the texture coordinates, the asteroids have no textures (!), despite having the proper parameters in the solarsys.ssc file.

a fix for these asteroids is at my web site here:

http://ravinfinite.tripod.com/fixedasteroids.zip

note that you're going to have to right-click on the link and go to "save target as..." or the equivalent in your browser because Tripod thinks it's a web page and it doesn't allow remote web page loading (that stinks). if someone can help me with this (as I know hardly anything about making web pages), please let me know.

also note that I am not the original author of these asteroids.

thank you

Ravinfinite, I'd like to include your fixed asteroid models in the 1.2.5 release of Celestia, but I can't get the file from tripod. I see this message:

This file is hosted by Tripod, a Lycos®Network Site, and is not available for download. Please check out Tripod's Help system for more information about Remote Loading and our Remote Loading policy.

Do you think that you could send it to me at claurel@shatters.net?

Chris, paste the link in a new browser, and hit enter.

(Make sure you haven't set *.tripod.com in your IE restricted zone)
