Not really, I think. The right picture does not show our galaxy and the left one is "merely" the simulation of a photo shot from another earth, it does not show the real look of our galaxy. It is much too bright anyway.
I can hardly see the Milky Way at all from here.
Maybe the center will have to be modified a bit.
But then again... Do YOU want to type in half a billion stars? :D

Uhhh.... actually the left picture IS of the Milky Way from Earth - taken in infrared by the 2MASS mission, which makes it slightly more difficult to recognise (although the brown cloud middle top is obviously the Pipe Nebula!).

Well, it really seems to be the Pipe Nebula, so it should be a view from Earth. Thanks for the hint. :)

Doesn't change my statement a bit, though. 8)
