Celestia has a bug which is very old but which is intermittent.
Chris has not been able to find it.

Sometimes the area is dark in the captured image where the Capture Image menu overlaps the main window.

I think this is what you are seeing. Try moving the menu window to a different location on the screen before you click on Save. If this is the bug, the dark area will move with it.

I also have an intermittent bug related with captures, and I wonder if it's related. Sometimes (perhaps 1/4 of the times) the "SAVE AS" DIALOG BOX GETS CAPTURED WITH THE RENDERED IMAGE!. See the example. That is not a screen capture of the saving process. Rather, it is the image saved by Celestia F10 command in full screen.

I have not been able to detect the actions needed to repeat this. Does anybody else have it?

I download at http://shatters.net/~claurel/celestia/files/patches/adaptivegrid/render.cpp.

After I download, I replaced that file in render.cpp from the source code.
