I was just wondering if future versions will have, for example, the ability to go back to 1969 and watch the apollo 11 mission, that would be so cool.

I think i can speek for everyone here. Yes there are plans to support such events. but certian other stuff need to be done first. The Events that you would like will most likely be supported a few version down the line.
