What do you guys think about the Browser interface in the OS X version?
I think if the 8 push buttons were to be removed entirely, it would simplify the interface drastically.
What do you think?

Firstly, I really don't use the browser often.

Secondly, I NEVER used those buttons ! LOL

I wonder if they are really usefull. I may agree to remove them completelly from the browser.

I think I don't use them often... Perhaps the Go button... :?

Double clicking does an implicit Go, but you probably already knew that..
(Actually it types a 'g', so if the text console is open you'll see the 'g' being typed - probably a bug...)

I'm still puzzled by those buttons. Do we really need them ? Just because of the question above, I started to use them (or actually play with them), just to see if I could really use them. Reallly, I just don't know !

Perso, thinking it better I also use select or center when searching for a body from ground (center to zoom just for DSO survey)...

Good remark. Actually, the button could become extremelly usefull from the ground of some planet.

This seems like a compelling enough argument to keep the buttons as-is. Since I myself almost never use Celestia as a planetarium (i.e., looking at the sky from the ground), that might be why I wasn't appreciating the value of these buttons.

Then what about the buttons which aren't usefull for the user placed on the ground ? Is there any that could be removed ?

To me the select and center are important, the rest is optional...

It does not matter to me, i don??t use the browser much, since i usually find the window to be in my way. Maybe if it was a regular menu item, i would have used it more (like a dropdown menu that wraps instead of a separate window). Of course, then there would not be any buttons...
