I am thinking about stopping compiling the windows version because there is Guillermo Abramson (http://cabfst28.cnea.gov.ar/~abramson/celestia/svnexec/) doing the job and I update much more slowly than him.

(Note that the direct links to cabfst28.cnea.gov.ar are no longer accessible from the outside world. Only this new address works, and its updated at midnight.)

Done. I uploaded SVN5213. As usual, it will be public after local midnight.

I packed the standard exe, as well as two others, built with the new star renderer and the fading orbits. I don't think these are in SVN at all (but I may be wrong), so I am using the one that Chris made public a couple of years ago.

What error do you mean in your image capture? Bad fonts?

How do the uploads you provide work? Do we download it and build it up ourselves so they can be used, or do you upload them already built up and ready for use?

Hi. As explained in the page, as well as in the readme file, I compile the SVN version myself and provide just the Windows executable. You have to copy it into the regular Celestia folder and run it from there. You may wish to backup the original celestia.exe, of course.

As I also mention there, nobody NEEDS these executables, unless they are desperate to try the latest improvements. Which, sadly, do not exist any more. The only differences I am aware of between my executables and 1.6.1 are the new star render (VERY good) and the fading orbits (which some people do not like, but I do). Plus some very minor inner improvements.

My antivirus program (Avast) has started to complain recently about my compiled Celestia. If you see any such notice from your antivirus, just ignore it. There is nothing evil in my programs.

Cheers,

Yes. Is there any known solution for this?

As I recall, this problem usually is caused by buggy graphics drivers. You might try installing the most recent drivers, downloading them from the Web site of the manufacturer of your graphics hardware.

In old versions of Celestia, turning off antialiasing would improve how the HUD fonts were drawn. You might try that, too.

Do any of the executables made in the past contain the missing improvements? And I forget what the improvements were, actually... :?

Yeah, I already have the habit of checking the SVN for updates, and thanks for the info. :)

Indeed. Take for example the latest one, celestia-v1.7x-svn5213.zip. It contains:

celestia.exe
celestia-newstar.exe
celestia-newstar-neworbit.exe

The first one is plain kosher Celestia. The second one is built with the improved stars rendering. The third one has the star rendering plus the fading orbits. I thought that the names should be obvious enough.

I am also building the qt4 for windows. I will include it eventualy.

Those I already know. ;)

I was referring to the latest improvements that you said WERE in Celestia but have been removed:

Oh, I see. I didn't mean that some improvements were removed. Just that there are no new improvements (that I am aware of). Actually, the new star renderer is not complete, it has some issues. But nobody would fix them. :(
