Cartrite,

One thing you might try is to go into Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Advanced and adjust "Memory Usage" for best performance oif System Cache.
(I'm not sure if this will help with your problem, but may just help to prioritise memory for those system processes that may be needing it)

Yeah, I know about the system performance settings. My main problem is with Linux and Celestia though. Windows has a different problem which probally has something to do with my dwindling disk space on my C drive. I guess it was about 3 years ago now that I got a 40 gb disk drive. I thought I'd never fill it up. Now I have a 200 GB drive and it's almost out of space. Things Change 8O

Don't know if would address your memory management concerns or not,
but I'm using a freeware program called "Free RAM XP Pro 1.52 to manage
my limited machine's memory when running Celestia.

Just Google for "Freem Ram XP Pro" to find the freeware download sites.

Seems to work on my limited 256 MB - and extremely OLD - machine.

Thanks, Bob
