The radius has been tweeked to have the correct size comparing of the surounding stars, as you can see below...

In fact, radius in Celestia is not the same that the nebula one's, it is the size of the model. So radius depend on how the texture is mapped to the models. Those dimension should only be used to give a magnitude order.

APOtD gives conflicting numbers

see the Astronomy Picture of the Day for May 10, 2003 (ie the current one, as I write this).
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

the bigpic (very pretty... ) is at:
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/ ... st_big.jpg

Interestingly, they have the distance here at 650ly; which might be a typo or just indicative of 'not having a clue really', they link to pages that quote 450ly and ~200pc = 650ly.

Thank for your link, this picture is great, and will be used for my helix nebula.

The link still doesn't work.

I get a page in French, then it goes back to your download
page - in an endless loop.

Vicware,

I've checked the link and I haven't encountered any errors, it works fine for me :?:

The error message that I get (en Francais) is that I must first visit the home page in order to access the zip file. After a few seconds, the error page loads the Web page http://membres.lycos.fr/tompouce00/, accompanied by a popup advertisement.

This is reasonable for a free web site, but annoying.

This is so strange.. I've retried again and I can get to the file without any problem... :?:

Yes, that's impossible to download the file if you do not download from my main page.
If anyone knows a good free website...

No problem with the original link over here. Just some patience and closing three anoying popups are needed.

Well if everybody else is saying its working fine,
Then the problem must be somewhere at your end.
