I completely uninstalled Celestia and then installed it anew. After that I replaced the files and it was running in English.

And you do run a Bulgarian version of Windows?

You can try forcing the language by running from a console:

> set LANG=bg
> celestia

But it's a bit stange that gettext does not pick up the correct locale.
