Stereoscopic options

Post #1by Robin Hague » 07.06.2007, 13:23

I work for an education centre in the UK and we have a twin projector cross polarised 3D system that would be excellent for Celestia. Searching through the forum I see there have been a number of mentions but I can't see anything conclusive. I have made some experiments by splitting the view vertically (which does end up on the correct projectors) and twisting the right hand view around the planet a little, but it is far from a demonstrable set-up. I believe the modifications required would be minor:

Link the twin views in space

Have some adjustment over convergence (although I see some advice that recommends that the virtual "cameras" should be parallel, which would simplify things)

Specify an eye separation, although ideally it could be linked to the scale of the object your view is associated with

but I have no programming experience and haven't a clue where to begin. Does this functionality exist? Does anyone want to cooperate on creating it if not?
I look forward to hearing your responses
Best regards
Robin

Stereo and Fish-Eye support

Post #2by Matthias Gris » 02.08.2007, 10:39

I work for university affiliated visualisation centre in the UK, and I too would be very interested in knowing what Celestia is capable of stereo wise...........?

on a related note, we would also like to run Celestia on a 180 degree panaramic theatre, so i am curious if Celestia supports the same kind of fish-eye render options as found in Stellarium?

Kind regards
