Thanks for the info - I've pm'ed you (and the others who've graciously offered to test) with links to two new builds.
Please try out both and let me know which one(s) work. :)

I think you can use the "Other C Flags" build setting to hold the -mtune parameter. You only have to edit
Other C Flags - the Other C++ flags setting includes the Other C Flags values.

1.4.1 will include a workaround for the no-stars issue.

The most-recent dirkpitt build worked very well for me on the Intel iMac.

Oh my God - it's full of stars!

Excellent! All the known issues related to the Universal binary have now been addressed. Thanks for all your help.

On a related note, with Chris' approval I've applied for a license (royalty-free) to use the Universal logo from Apple.
The logo should be good for CD packaging or other Celestia OS X promotional uses.

Just to let you know.. Although it appears you have got the feedback you needed... No problems with my machines either..

I've gotten around to testing the 20060128-B dirkpitt build on my PPC laptop -- and it seems to run faster than the release 1.4.0 there, too!

Also OpenGL 2.0 rendering path seems to work, whereas it does not work with the 1.4.0
