Brighten galaxies?

Post #1by Citizen Premier » 22.12.2005, 05:37

I know the dark, grey blobs are how galaxies "really look," but it would be nice to make galaxies brighter and appear as they do in long-exposure pictures. Is there any modification for this?

Improved galaxy rendering is included in the most recent prereleases of Celestia v1.4.0. The final release is hoped to be available before the end of the year, maybe even this upcoming weekend.

Pre-10 is available at
http://www.celestiaproject.net/~claurel/celest ... 0pre10.exe

Please read the Celestia 1.4.0 prerelease FAQ
at http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6098

See http://www.celestiaproject.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8500
for some examples of how they look.

As for how to include colorful images of galaxies, please read the Preliminary User's FAQ, especially Q/A #9

The FAQ is a "sticky" near the top of the User's forum.

Also, consider vising the Celestia Motherlode's Galaxy page at http://celestiamotherlode.net/catalog/galaxies.php

Welcome back Chris!

Just wanted to say that I stopped by during this slow morning (it's a ghost town in the office this week, I think I just saw a tumbleweed blow down the hall to Finance) and was overjoyed to not only see that Chris is back and active again, but that progress is being made and 1.4.0 is close to being released.

Keep up the good work, and what a great Xmas present this is.
