In version 1.7.0 more comfortable Celestial browser.

I tried Cham's release on my system: macos 10.12.2, intel hd graphics 3000 350 MB.

It effectively does not crash when reaching a memory threshold as the 32 bit version, but it crashes on:
* loading non-VT textures 8k and above (a problem I also have on official 1.6.1);
* SPICE files *.bsp (I don't know SPICE, I just understood these are related to SPICE and that the application crashes on add-ons using them, I had to remove JohnVV's ISON and SidingSpring add-ons).

It also has this problem: when I ctrl-click on a planet (the equivalent of right click on windows), most of the times his star is selected and the menu for the star appears (e.g. I ctrl-click on earth and the Sun get selected), then after using the menu, the planet is selected again.

If anyone experienced one of these problems and found a solution, pleease reply!

Anyway, great release. The new orbits are quite better.

I have a few questions, as I am confused by the number of code repositories and builds for Celestia

Is the latest code at https://github.com/CelestiaProject/Celestia?

Can it be use to do a Mac build and if yes, what is the process?

Why not make full use of github.com features, such as tags and releases?
https://github.com/blog/1547-release-your-software

The Celestia binaries for all OS variants could then be nicely hosted on github.com. See this nice example:
https://github.com/openshift/origin/releases

I'm not new to Celestia; I used it for years, and loved it! But I uninstalled Celestia from my Mac a few years ago. Recently, I updated my computer, and now it runs 10.15 Catalina with 64-bit software, with no major issues. Except that I can't get Celestia 1.7.0 to install! I've tried the instructions listed above; so far, no luck.

Could someone please post step-by-step instructions on how to install this 64-bit version of Celestia for Mac? I'd live to have this working again...

To those who help with this issue, I thank you advance. Let me know if you ever visit Juneau, Alaska, and I'll gladly show off my adopted hometown!

Hi, currently 1.7.0 is the in-development version.
The latest stable release is 1.6.1, however this does not work on Catalina, so you will have to use beta-1.6.2, under the announcements section on the forums.

yes, as fy2r pointed out and the conversation above, 1.7.0 of this thread is not official. For macOS, your choice would be the 1.6.2 which you should be able to get update from GitHub/announcement section. but to notice that its a beta version, so if you encounter any bug, please let us know so we can improve it!

for the 1.7.0 version on Mac that still takes time to come, it will very likely be off the UI codebase we have been keeping now

Even though 1.7.0. much more updated, I really prefer Celestia 1.6.1.

It's reasonable to prefer finished product rather than unfinished
Still formally developer, but too tired to develop. I feel sad, but Celestia is going forward despite it.
Btw, the universe is ruled by electricity.
