Installation of a new location database in Celestia 1.6.1

In the menu Celestia Render-> Locations ... there is a "Locatios" panel with 10 check-boxes, of which 9 check-boxes are direct links to 9 types of locations.
The 10th check-box includes all other "Other features" ...
According to the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature (IAU) Working Group for the Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN)
https://planetarynames.wr.usgs.gov/ there are 57 types of location for the objects of the solar system (except the Earth).
According to the research Celestia 1.6.1 provides 32 types of locations, including Type = "City", Type = "Observatory", Type = "Other".
What is the discrepancy between the need for visualization of locations and the ability to display these locations!
Therefore, a new tool RenderLocations (RenderLocs) appeared in the GUI of Lua Univetsal Tools v5.0 beta (LUT-5).
In the screenshot, the comparison of the default "Locatios" panel and the new RenderLocs panel in LUT-5:

Note: in the RenderLocs panel, the check boxes in the white frame are the 32 types of locations provided in Celestia 1.6.1. The remaining check-boxes in the green frame are other locations provided by the IAU WGPSN. Check-boxes in a blue frame are intended for locations of the Earth. Green and blue check-boxes use white check-boxes free for the selected object. This is the know-how of the new tool. In addition to programming for the implementation of know-how, it is required to re-encode the types of locations in the base of locations! The new location database is 100% compatible only with the new RenderLocs tool in LUT-5.

Installing a new location database in Celestia 1.6.1 .:
  • Remove from the "data" folder all files of type * locs.ssc and the file world-capitals.ssc
  • Copy the unpacked archive locations_16-12-2017.zip to the "extras" folder
  • Run Celestia

For the convenience of working with RenderLocs, it is recommended to include the "Objects with locations" guide:
  • first press the button [>] (on the right aboard there will be a vertical ruler of buttons that include Guides)
  • then click the [Loc] button

The following screenshot shows the RenderLocs panel and Mercury is selected. The RenderLocs panel includes the check box AA = Crater.

Note. Pluto and Charon must be searched with the help of the search system "Enter"
