I have been running celestia with no problems, but suddenly celestia is opening but not completing the sequence where you fly to the earth, it says it is travelling and then loops back to where it started endlessly, making it impossibe to use the program. Windows xp. 200watts power should this be upgraded?
933mhz pentium III 512mb ram (recently installed from 384 mb). Agp graphics card nvidia g force 6600 GT 256mb. I have updated drivers for graphics card. I have uninstalled celestia and redownloaded no joy and uninstalled and reinstalled with a promo disc. Talk about being lost in space, please help I can't be with out celestia for too long.
Thanks

I'd be surprised if low power would cause a consistant failure. I'd expect intermittant strangeness instead. However, 200W seems way too small for the hardware you describe. Supposedly a 6600GT needs at least 17-18 Amps from the +12 Volt line when running in 3D mode. I doubt a 200W supply can provide that. My understanding is that you need a 350-400 Watt supply to get that much current, but check the specs to be sure.

Thanks Selden I thought as much, I have some one coming to help me upgrade the power to 450watts. He pointed out that the mother board is probably unable to take a graphics card X8 and will only work with X4 so that is frustrating having only just upgraded it. He reckons that we might be able to down load some software to sort this problem out here's hoping.

Most AGP 8x cards are compatible with 4x or even 2x: I had a 5700LE working in an old dual-processor 500MHz P3 system. Check the fine print. Of course, the performance won't be quite as good, but I suspect you won't notice that. Other things cause bigger slowdowns in Celestia (like disk load speed for large textures).

Good luck!
