celestia crash on startup with imac g5

Hi,
i am new with celestia and find it very interesting. Unfortunately it seems to crash on startup using my imac g5 (at least on double clicking the icon nothing happens). Here is my system (in german i hope it does not matter):

Computermodell: iMac G5
CPU-Typ: PowerPC G5 (3.0)
Anzahl der CPUs: 1
CPU-Geschwindigkeit: 1.8 GHz
L2-Cache (pro CPU): 512 KB
Speicher: 1.25 GB
Busgeschwindigkeit: 600 MHz
Boot-ROM-Version: 5.2.2f4

GeForce FX 5200:
Typ: display
Bus: AGP
Steckplatz: AGP
VRAM (gesamt): 64 MB
Hersteller: nVIDIA (0x10de)
Ger?¤te-ID: 0x0329
Versions-ID: 0x00b1
ROM-Version: 2103

Monitor:
Typ: display
Monitortyp: LCD
VRAM (in Verwendung): 64 MB
Aufl?¶sung: 1680 x 1050
Farbtiefe: 16-Bit Farbe
Hauptmonitor: Ja
Synchronisierung: Aus
Online: Ja

could anyone around here give me a hint, what to do?
Thanks a lot
Jakob

Please read the "Preliminary User's FAQ" which is a "sticky" near the top of the Users Forum.

The current workaround is to disable vertex shading.

V1.4.1 will include an internal workaround for the bugs in Apple's OpenGL graphics routines.

Actually since your graphics chip is a GeForce FX 5200 which does not have any known issues with vertex programs, it should work fine without needing any workarounds. I've received a similar report of a user in France who was also unable to start Celestia. It would be very helpful if you could do a search for a file named "Celestia.crash.log" (Spotlight should be able to find it quickly), open it with TextEdit, and copy and paste the contents into a reply to this post.

If Celestia.crash.log does not exist, could you try telling me what is shown in the Console program when you try to run Celestia? Thanks!
