1.4 Causes Lockup on OS X Tiger

Post #1by gyrogeerloose » 02.01.2006, 01:53

Launching Celestia 1.4 on my 1.25 GHz Mac mini running OS X 10.4.3 with 512 MB RAM causes it to lock up solidly after about 10 seconds. The computer does not respond to mouse movement or keyboard commands--I have to resort to a hardware shutdown in order to reboot. Console hasn't helped because the hard reboot seems to wipe out the log file and there's nothing in CrashReporter. Has anyone else experienced this?

Please read either the included README for Mac OS X.rtf or the FAQ. The lock up is caused by a buggy video driver for Mini's and some eMac models and has a workaround.

Missed that completely, I'm so embarrased.... Uncommenting the "Ignore GLExtensions" line in the "celestia.cfg" file did the trick. Thanks.
