Disappearing galaxies

Sorry if this has been done before, but I was flying around the universe, flying through REAL LIFE galaxies instead of my fictional ones, and I noticed that while I was flying through a galaxy, it completely disappeared.
Example: cel://Follow/NGC 2403/2005-12-16T05:20:43.11647?x=AAAAAAAAwHf+JqRVz/3//w&y=AAAAAAAAgFqPpDRj0gg&z=AAAAAAAAAIH05cD03Pb//w&ow=0.947137&ox=-0.148582&oy=-0.175897&oz=-0.223415&select=NGC 2403&fov=28.289770&ts=1.000000<d=0&rf=300951&lm=0
Just simply accellerate and fly straight (hit the F7 key to get a head start), and in a few moments, the part of the galaxy you're viewing will simply disappear.
