Display resizes unnecessarily

Perhaps you can help me with a display problem. I am using a dual-display setup, but I don't think the dual displays are causing my problem. I can't be sure though, because I can't disable the integrated display.
Whenever I initiate fullscreen mode, either at startup with --fullscreen command line parameter, or by pressing <ALT>+Enter, the primary display resizes from the current 1024x768 to 800x600 (and things aren't quite right; the two displays get shifted in odd ways). I can then successfully manually resize it back to 1024x768, but I plan to invoke Celestia frequently during presentations, and all the screen flashes are very distracting. Why does it resize the screen, and is there some way to prevent it?
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Processor: Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz
Memory: 384 MB
Primary display (where Celestia start up):
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
128 MB RAM
(PCI Card)
Secondary Display:
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
64 MB RAM
(Integrated into motherboard)
Celestia is V1.3.2
Latest video & display drivers & BIOS have been installed.
Another unrelated question: can a script (.cel or .celx) terminate the program?
Thanks much for your assistance.
