workaround for crash after Celestia startup

This workaround might be helpful for those who experience Celestia crashing during the startup script. It looks like a few others have reported this to the forum but the recommendations dealt mostly with graphics drivers.

I have an older 64MB ATI card on my WinXP SP2 laptop with current drivers, etc., however Celestia would launch, begin the startup script but as soon as it panned away from the Sun to zoom in on the Earth, the program would crash with a null pointer dereferencing exception.

To resolve this I simply edited the celestia.cfg file, and uncommented (removed the leading # character) from the follow text line:

Code: Select all

IgnoreGLExtensions [ "GL_ARB_vertex_program" ]
