first , i want to apologize if this topic has already been dealt with. i did not find it on the forum.
i've got graphic problems with me celestia:
here is my computer features:
Medion
Model MD41573
Intel CPU 3.06GHz
1.60GHz , 512 for the RAM
graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600
i hope this is enough
here are the pictures of my bugs:
here is a statement to pass the time of the loading:
A flea and a fly in a flue
Said the fly "Oh what should we do"
Said the flea" Let us fly
Said the fly"Let us flee"
So they flew through a flaw in the flue
PS:i've got the same bug for huygens descending on titan as well.
en vous remerciant

Have you obtained the very latest graphics drivers for your card?
Have you read Selden's FAQ's concerning graphics problems?
I have seen this effect before, but only because the model I was trying to
view had something wrong with its polygons? Weren't facing the right way
or something.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'd have a look at Selden's FAQ's and his
web site for more
information.
Take care, Bob

What I'm seeing in your picture above is actually a very advanced erotic creature from the omega point, copulating with the Cassini probe, in the virtual memory space of your computer. This nasty guy is really horny, you know.

1) your Nvidia graphics drivers are obsolete.
Celestia shows the current drivers as
Version: 1.5.2
"Go" versions of Nvidia graphics sometimes require drivers provided by the manufacturer of the laptop computer and cannot use drivers from Nvidia. If that is true for you, then you need to contact Medion to get them to update their drivers.
If you can use Nvidia's drivers, then download the newest drivers from Nvidia's Web site.
Be sure to use "Add or Remove Programs" to delete the old drivers. Then reboot before you install the newest ones. Otherwise the drivers will *not* be updated properly.
2) 3d Mesh objects often will be drawn very strangely (like what you see) when Celestia tries to load more models into your graphics card than your card has room for. Try removing most of your Addons except for the ones that you want to look at.
I hope this helps.

I've had a similar problem in a computer gme before, where a few strange black bars were occasionally coming off the characters, but this is ridiculous.
Atlantis looks like it has flown through a pile of grey paper fans and rose thorns, Cassini looks like it has been hit by a big grey blanket, and Voyager one looks like it has been struck by two giant bangles and another one of those dredded grey paper fans.
My problem was fixed by a driver update, so who knows what's going on here.

Maybe your spacecraft addon files are corrupted... You could check your unzip program.
It might have something to do with binary files being treated like text files during the unzip.

I have that EXACT problem, so I just stopped downloading space craft and space stations.

actually the problem is solvable because I don't I have it anymore. Yet, I had to wait for formating my HDD to solve it. Maybe I could solve it without doing such a thing by uninstall drivers and reinstall them?

sounds like you already fixed the problem by formatting the hdd?
If so, sorry but in the future, when installing nvidia drivers, the first thing to do is.
1. go to device manager (right click on my computer is one way) and disable your on board card (expand the display section, right click, etc. ) not the nvidia card.
2. uninstall old nvidia driver.
3. reboot, when the system comes up cancel out of any hardware wizard that may come up.
4.Nvidia recommends that you disable any virus scanner before running the setup for the new driver.
5.run setup reboot
I have a geforce 5500 and went thru a lot before I finnally got it right.
I have also seen similar results that your pics showed when running other programs like orbiter but not celestia. Thats with the latest driver too. It happens when I'm zoomed in too close to a spaceship. When I zoom out the scene goes back to normal.
Hope this helps. sorry if this came too late.

Hi,
I've got exactly the same problem on my system and only on spacecraft objects.
System:
Win98SE, AMD2200+, 512MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 128MB (last driver), DirectX9.0c, Celestia 1.3.2
Thanks for help!
