Graphics card: intel 82915G/Gv/910GL Express chipset Family

Hi just got a new computer, and installed celestia on it, to find that several planets and moons (the moon, mars and mercury are a few) render the right texture / detail but the surface is coloured in a global spectrum i.e. one part is red that transients to yellow to blue , to green (the colours do not move) like a spherical colour chart.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Svennis,

Please read the Preliminary Users FAQ at the top of the Celestia Users Forum, especially Q/A #1, section c2.

The OpenGL drivers provided with your system for the integrated Intel graphics chips are defective. You probably should consider contacting HP to try to get them to provide better drivers.

Alternatively, you might want to consider upgrading to a 3D graphics card. See the FAQ for some recommendations.

Sorry.

p.s. added slightly later:
The optional low profile Nvidia Quadro4 280NVS is only 2D, unfortunately. The ATI X300 card should work reasonably well, though.

doh.. sorry
