nVidia FX problems perhaps...

The atmospheric haze also disappears for me on NV30 as opposed to the Nv combined shader on the latest snapshot (22/07 download) This is on a nVidia FX5900 128Mb w/ 6106 Drivers.

Also the shadow of Saturn's rings looked very oddly placed once or twice using these 'higher' level shaders. Can't seem to replicate it at will, but instead of a nice shdowing effect, it looked like the entire ring texture was mapped straight onto the top of Saturn, like a halo. But did I have the common sense to take a screen grab? No. Sorry guys.

Celestia's fragment_program shaders for FX class cards are still a work-in-progress. That's why they aren't the default.

The non-physical circular shadows are visible only when you enable non-physical Ambient Light. Chris is hoping to fix them soon, but that may not happen before v1.3.2 final is released.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate the thread where he mentioned this.
