Greetings!
I'm not sure anyone can help since I'm not sure the problem has to do with Celestia at all. Here's my problem:
I have been using Celestia since I first found out about it from a websearch quite by accident. Started out as a search for a good astronomy program (2D). When I found this ->3D<- simulator, I had to try it. It was version 1.2.5 Since then, I have added tons of add-ons to it and have had very few problems. Couldn't get video recording to work (crashed the system) and got white squares in upper-left corner on some (not all) screen captures. All things I could live with.
I recently installed version 1.3.1 as strictly a stand-alone "clean" install with only supplied files. It also ran without issue. I was happy not to mention impressed with your marvelous work.
Then....
I got hit by a massive adware invasion called "VX2_BetterInternet" which completely hosed my system. It took me nearly two weeks to recover and get control back from this nightmare. Now, everything seems to work as normal except Celestia (either version) which loads and runs (according to Wintop) but displays nothing on the screen. All I see is my desktop and curser. Wintop shows it running as a process and I can even terminate it. Just no display of any kind.
I reinstalled Windows in case some required .dll files got removed that should be there and reinstalled DirectX 9 for the same reason. I also reinstalled both Celestia versions from my archive downloads. All with no effect.
If anyone has a clue what I can do next, I'd sure appreciate it. I love this program and have told everyone I know about it.
I have an AMD Athlon 1.4 G with 512 M ram. I am using an MSI Geforce3 TI200 graphics card with latest drivers. (as I mentioned, it WAS working just fine).
Not sure what happened - No Display at all....
