I' have a radeon 8500, using the last (3.7) official drivers, working very well anywhere, but not with celestia.

The program start, the form drawn (with toolbar and menus), but the cpu seems overloaded and the univers can't be dysplayed.

With dri drivers (r_200) works fine.

I think this is a prblem. Sombody else have this problem? If yes i think it going to fix, many of 3d card are by ATI.

Comick,

Please read the "Preliminary User's FAQ" at the top of the Users Forum.

Please follow the instructions in Q/A #2: we need to know what operating system you are using and which version of Celestia you are trying to use.

Do different Render Paths work for you?
Which ones? (Q/A #1c)

If Celestia works with the DRI drivers, then that should tell you something about the ATI drivers.

ATI's OpenGL drivers, especially the ones for Radeons less than 9500, are full of bugs.
Celestia's developers cannot know what those bugs are and cannot program around them. Celestia depends on the OpenGL routines working properly.

ATI is slowly fixing some of the bugs reported by people who use Celestia, but it is taking them a very long time.

sure

celestia 1.3.1, slack 9.1 with xfree 4.3, kernel 2.4.22, kde 3.1.4

atholn xp 1900+, 500mb ram, radeon 8500 128mb.

I've compiled from source in prefix=/opt/kde

When celestia start, i'm unable to use gui elements (buttons, menu). The form appear locked but consolle output is the same as a normal startup. The part of the window when should be rendered universe, is unfilled, showing desktop.
