Windows - 1.3.2 pre 1
If an object is currently in Track mode, and you activate the Solar System Browser dialog box (Navigation / Solar System Browser ...), it does not cancel the Track mode when opened, thus none of the commands do anything in the dialog box.
Could someone else using Windows confirm this? What about the Linux versions?
Thanks,

Win Solar System Browser problem
Don,
I think the menu is doing the right thing already.
Selecting its "GoTo" button does take you to the new object while continuing to Track the current object: the Tracked object stays centered while you travel.
The "Center" button doesn't work if an object is being Tracked, but that's a separate issue. I think it'd be reasonable to grey out that button while displaying a message like "Track is enabled" on the menu.
I don't think invoking any menu should cancel Track mode when the menu opens. Often one has Track mode on for a reason. In other words, I don't think Celestia should change visualization modes without an explicit command to do so.
One might be invoking the menu only to look at the list of objects, for example. Also, one might be using Track in order to keep an object centered while using the SolarSystemBrowser to go to other bodies in order to see what it looks like from them. This is one way to compare the appearance of Saturn from the Cassini probe and from the Earth, for example.

Selden,
Okay, after some purposeful experimentation, I see your point. However, how many people are going to realize what is going on? I didn't <sigh>.
So, as you suggest, it might indeed be a good idea to make some changes to the dialog when an object is being actively Tracked -- such as greying out the Center button and adding a note such as "<object> is being Tracked".
Cheers,
-Don G.
