v1.3.1p10: deep sky objects only partially drawn

When looked at from certain viewpoints, very simple deepsky objects are only partially drawn.
Here's one example:
Note that the upper left corner is missing from the picture of M42. It's just a texture on the front of a simple square object.

This problem is seen in Celestia v1.3.1pre10. I've seen it in earlier versions, too.
System:
256MB 500MHz P3, WinXP Pro SP1
128MB GF4 Ti4200, Detonator 45.23 whql, OpenGL 1.4
