Win 1.3.1 p10 - Locations

I notice that nothing has been done with Locations since it was discussed in July.

* Will this feature be modified/fixed?

* Will any other "English" items be added or will the existing list of USGS items be re-worked at all?

* Will the final distribution contain any Location files? If not, maybe the Readme file could contain a link to where they can be found?

I've fixed quite a few locations bugs . . . If you've got some specific ones you want me to take a look at, please mention them again.

I'd like to get a standard locations add-on package that everyone agrees on first. The USGS locations for bodies other than Earth are in good shape (except for the accented characters.) But I think some more work on Earth locations is still required . . .

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your message.

In http://ennui.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2954&highlight=locations, I pointed out how multiple text labels are being displayed on top of one another. Not replied to.

In http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20077 I offered one possible solution to the "problem" described above, and asked that the developers and Locations file creators "get together" and define a list of Size and Importance values for specific objects / locations that everyone should use, but never heard any more about anyone doing this.

In http://ennui.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2932&highlight=locations, there was a brief discussion about Size and Importance values along with a lengthy message regarding the use of USGS 2-letter codes instead of English words. Not replied to. However in http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20077 you did say, "I'll introduce similar aliases for the rest of the feature types."

In http://ennui.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2944&highlight=locations, you talked about removing the Mark Features checkbox from the Locations dialog box because it was not implemented yet, and also about implementing guidelines for the creation of Locations files. Both are unresolved / unfinalized.

What kind of work on Earth locations? The overlapping labels? Size and Importance specifications? Or?

Thanks again Chris,
