Clipping on planets....

I noticed that in certian instances, planets will disappear...As for example, you were to set up a planet to be more than a light year from its sun...it will in essence not be visible...Is this due to the limits on light casting? Invisible not as in black and outlined...but as if its not there...
Also in another senerio...I created a planet around Rigel Kent A in an attempt to see what it would appear to do when it passed its neighbor Rigel Kent B...The clipping happens when it gets within a certain distance in its orbit like so...

^ example DivX showing what I mean...
I would suspect that this would be a fix when the need comes up to add in binary star systems...as multiple light sources seem to also cause this clipping...if my guess is correct...
