early timeout of login

Chris:
this is not related to Celestia but to this mailbox. Both in the office, where I have a continuous ethernet connection and at home (modem), I get thrown out of the login after a fairly short period of inactivity, e.g. when I am thinking what to write next;-).
At home, I work with a dial-on-demand setup which means the modem switches off after a while. When I reconnect, sometimes, I am still logged on, sometimes not.
Question: Is there some timeout parameter in the box that might be increased??? Otherwise, I shall most of the time appear as "Anonymous"...
