I think that your plain asteroid texturemight be the Moon ,that can happen when celestia cant find the texture
make shure that the name of the texture in the .ssc is the same as the tex in the lores, medres, hires foldres
i use copy and past to make 100%shure that they are the same

I don?t know if happens but I substitute the original asteroids.jpg of Celestia for asteroids.jpg from Darkmiss site.Could this have caused the problem?

Possibly if you rename the texture to the correct spelling Amalthea.dds or dot whatever else...

Problem solved.I deleted the asteroids.jpg from Darkmiss and Amalthea return to the normal, without oscilation.About 2 k texture,I didn?t use Amathis.dds, but Amalthea.PNG.And now everything is OK!Well now I will focuse on Mercury!!

The asteroid.jpg you downloaded from me cannot give you a problem In Celestia,
as it is just a texture file that sit in your texture folder, doing nothing until it it is used in an ssc file.

It can only give you a problem, if it is misused in an ssc file

I was thinking it was just to change the original asteroids.jpg for the new textures.I thought it was necessary to modify the ssc.
In the readme, you said that the asteroids.jpg could be used without problems, but the other files need to have knowledge of how to modify a ssc file
