Earth is sometimes displayed as black and white. Most often, it is when I first start up Celestia. Sometimes when I move away from earth and come back to it, it's black and white again.

I can make it in color again by going to Full Screen mode from Windowed Mode, and vice versa.

All other stars and planets seem to be in color even when Earth is not.

I'm running under Windows 2000, with GeForce 2 MX 32MB

The problem is propably caused by not enough texture memory.
As explained elsewhere Celestia drops textures when there is not enough memory instead of replacing them with low-res versions, this will be changed in future versions

Solution: Use 640*480*16 Fullscreen ;-)
Or, as you said, go full screen and back orresize the window to a smaller size. (and back)
I myself simply press Alt-Enter, then resize it to approx. 100*200 :-) and then Alt-Enter again (always 'work' full-screen)
