Hi i was playing with this great little program and decided to see what things looked like in the solar system 60k years ago.... well i found that celestia doesnt seem to be able to properly calculate the orbits of the planets at no so distant times (depends on perspective i guess...) anyway, here is what i found,,, now if this were real i dont think we would be here right now

are there any plans to make the program work better for looking at times that are fairly distant from ours? or is this just something i get to live with

No- that is the actual prediction of Earth's orbit in about 40,000 years; but the government doesn't want you to know this since it will probably hurt the economy even more!

But seriously- some of the orbits do get out of wack when you go forward or backwards 60,000+ years. Don't know why, and it seems to happen with Earth the worst.

Problem seems to be due to the speed that time passes, rather than the amount of time that passes. Bump the time-step up to the maximum setting and it all goes haywire - you get orbits that look like jagged snowflakes. Go forward in time slowly and the effect is much less. The more accellerated the time, the more screwed up it gets by the time a particular year (eg 60,000 AD) is reached.
