Satellites in the shadow of their planets are still visible

Well, eclipses behaves in the right way and the planets project their shadows on their satellites. But if you are far enought from the satellite you can still see it even if it is completely in the dark. Then if you get closer and closer the satellite will disappear as soon as its diameter become visibile.
