Eclipses

I have a Riva TNT2 32 mb graphics card and i'm experiencing some problems with eclipses... they slow a lot my machine when show up on any planet...
The same happens when I go to Saturn with his shadow in his rings...
Is there anything that can be done or my video card is just too slow???
