Black on black text?

Any idea what to tweak to change text color?
I'm viewing Celestia 1.2.4 on a Compaq PentiumII with ATI Rage Pro AGP., and I'm getting black text, with each line cut off about 15% at the bottom.
I'm using a ViewSonic LCD monitor. I've checked to make sure that the drivers are the most recent possible.
Any other thoughts? 1.2.5 has the "crash if rendering round objects" bug for me.
