Compile on openSUSE

Post #1by kolAflash » 04.03.2011, 16:38

Hi, I had to make some changes to the celestia sources, to compile them on openSUSE 11.3. Just want to publish my changes, so everyone can profit and maybe you can integrate them into the official build.

Hi,

thanks for your patch.

When we released Celestia-1.6.0 back in July 2009, the OpenSuSE 11.2 and 11.3 releases both did not yet exist (release dates: Nov 2009 and July 2010, respectively!).

We are aware that the version 1.6.0 does not compile with the gcc-4.5.x series.

A Celestia dot release, 1.6.1, is due any time and contains all the required modifications for building with the latest compiler releases and libraries.

Let me encourage you to either compile the 1.6.1 SVN branch or (in my opinion much preferably!) the trunk (1.7.x) version in the SVN repository. Both branches are pretty well tested by the community and us devs. The trunk version has many new features! Many people here use the actual SVN releases instead of the outdated 1.6.0 release.

For an instruction about accessing the SVN code repository, see the Celestia Wikibook:

PS: As Linux platforms I have OpenSuSE 11.1, 11.2 and 11.3 installed on various computers of mine.
