O.K. I tried to install celestia on a system with Win-2k a 350 Megaherts pentum 2 Processor and an old Nvidia TNT card.
But it is very choppy, even with the low res textures
.
I cant even play Quake III it sys it cant initulise OpenGL, is this my problem, and if so can somebody provide a DIRECT link to the open gl softwear
Thank you.

Trying to run something like Celestia and Quake 3 on an old TNT 2 is not going to work well. Its not the OpenGL drivers its the video chip. What you are trying to do is like trying to tow a trailer with a Yugo when you know you really should be using something like a Ford F150 or something like it. You can only use small textures on a TNT 2 and if you check the specs Quake 3 has never been able to run real well on one as well. Try and find yourself a cheap used GeForce2.

Well, I have a Pentium II 400 and a TNT 1 card onboard with 16MB of video-RAM. And I must say that Quake 3 runs in 800x600x16 with all detailes turned on very well. Also Celestia makes no problems to me.
My Celestia settings:
+ Set ambient Light to none (Alt + 7 (More than one time))
+ Set the magnitude limit to 6.00 (Alt + 8 or Alt + 9)

I have P2 333 and TNT.
Quake 3 runs ~30 FPS in 800x600x16 and
Celestia ~16 FPS in 1024x768x32.
You need OpenGL drivers, drivers supplied with windows have only software mode.
Go to
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Select Graphics Driver -> GForce And TNT -> Your OS -> GO
Then select location ( Primary Download Site ), read and agree
to licence terms.

1024x768x32 is too high for a TNT. Set to 1024x768x16, you won't see a diference in rendering quality, almost.

Wat suprised me was that it used to run Quake 3 just fine, I pulled the card out of my brothers old systum with windows 98 and put it into my brothers new system with windows 2000, but I used the same drivers, so thear shouldent be a diffirenc

Make sure you have the motherboard set to 4X AGP mode if posible. This will make a diference. Also keep in mind that the same piece of hardware that worked fine in one system isn't garanteed to work the same in another. I come accross this regulary when working on systems and when building new ones using older parts. Its always a gamble.

Win2000 drivers and Win98 drivers are incompatible to each other

Windows is using software rendering, so it's as if you don't even have a 3D card at all! This is because ( as you stated earlier ) you're using the old Windows 98 driver. Windows 98 drivers are incompatable with Windows 2000 and XP.
You should download the following driver:
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=winxp-2k_41.09 and use it instead. This should fix things for you.
