This is intentional. Automagnitude is now ON by default. It may be turned off using CTRL+Y or selecting the appropriate menu item.

Andrew, I think you may have mis-understood me...
What I mean is that I've already switched automag OFF, and then I'm adjusting FOV with the (period) and (comma) keys.
Each time I do this, the text appears on lower left of screen indicating that the magnitude limit (not auto-magnitude) has changed.
(This should only happen when pressing the "[" and "]" keys.)
When auto-magnitude (ctrl-Y) IS enabled then there's no problem at all. (auto-magnitude is only affected by the correct keys in this case)
