On my machine, Uranus rings are untextured. A bug? or are the textures simply not included in this release?

Yep, I had the same. I changed the name to rings.jpg in solarsys.ssc, because it was uranusrings, which is not there...

Ack! I forgot to include the file uranus-rings.png when I built the Windows release of Celestia. Sorry about this . . .

You can add the rings by copying this file:

http://www.celestiaproject.net/celestia/files/uranus-rings.png

into Celestia's textures folder.
