Lo-mid-hi-res switching in Celestia 1.6.0 final

Regretfully, I cannot switch between rendering low, mid and hi-res textures when running Celestia 1.6.0 final (as of June 20) as well as either of the 1.6.0 release candidates using 'R' and 'Shift+R' keys. These hotkeys are specified in the keyboard operating window under the 'Help' menu. Is this due to a bug or the an obsolete Russian translation of the hotkey help file which has been somehow updated? The other option of swtching the rendering mode ('Ctrl-V') works perfectly fine.

That's NOT a bug!

Chris wrote:The texture resolution keys r/R were removed because this function isn't used often enough to justify assigning a letter key for it. Also, this key assignment was troublesome because it made it easy for a new user to accidentally reduce the texture resolution without realizing what had happened or how to fix the problem. We will eventually reassign r/R to some function that is used more frequently.

There are easy ways to implement the old switching via a celx or cel script.

Changing surface texture resolutions in v1.6 is an option in the Render menu. It's one up from the bottom of the list.

The "r" and "R" commands have been removed from the English version of controls.txt provided with v1.6. Perhaps their removal was overlooked in some of the translated versions. :(
