Error in moonships html file

I'm finally returning to a problem I reported in 2006 having to do with Celestia not completing an image. I'm running Celestia version 1.5.1 on a Power Mac G4 under Mac OS 10.4.11. My Power Mac uses an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX video card. The JPEG file file moonship-1 (Passenger).jpg illustrates the problem.

In attempting to view the moonships via the moonship.html file, Firefox reports that is could not find a file (see Picture 21.jpg file). However, when using Safari (see file Pictyre22.jpg), I get the same results as illustrated by the file moonship-1 (Passenger).jpg.

One more point; this problem does not appear on my Powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.11 and Celestia 1.5.1. My Powerbook G4 uses an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700.

Any thoughts?

It could be that the 3DS models are simply too big.
Some 3DS interpreters can't handle individual meshes larger than 32K vertices.
The moonship models have meshes which contain more than 50K vertices.

I've just now uploaded a revised Addon to the Motherlode which has CMOD models instead of 3DS models. They might work -- I don't have a Mac so I can't verify if the change fixes anything. It'll probably be about a week before the Addon is available, though. The people maintaining the site are busy with other projects.

This is separate from your issue with Celestia URLs in Firefox.
Someone with Mac experience will have to comment on that.

Attempted to find your CMOD/HTML version of moonships on the Motherload, but couldn't find it. How soon will the update become available, so I can test it?

As Selden said it will take about a week to show up. The fellas running the motherlode are real busy so it takes them time to get new addons tested and posted.

Normally, it takes about three days.
I have seen that your uploads have been made, Selden.
I'm just waiting for Ulrich to get to them. He has to make them
available to me before I can test them. Once he does that,
I test them almost immediately and return my results to him.
Please understand that Ulrich IS very busy with his professional
life, and that 3 days isn't too long to wait is it?

Thanks, Brain-Dead

Gentlemen, I do indeed understand that you all have daytime jobs, and believe me I do appreciate the checkout and testing you're doing. Whatever your turnaround time is fine with me. Thank you. :-)

This means Firefox don?t understand what a Celestia URL is. Since Safari does, it appears your OS X has it?s mimetypes set correctly, but Firefox does not understand them anyway. This may indicate there is a bug in your Firefox. Check if there is a newer version available.

Otherwise:
Apple has decided that us dumb users should not need to know what a mimetype is, so in never versions of MacOS they have removed the interface that made it easy to edit them. Only a few settings can be accessed, inexplicably, in the Quicktime prefpane of all places. Else, you do it in the Get Info window for any given file, which does not help in this case.

However, there are two freeware utilities that lets you get control over this: RCDefaultApp and Misfox (google). Perhaps you could use one of these to convince Firefox to open CelUrls with Celestia...

You will find the revised version here (<- click me) on the Motherlode.
I did add it a few minutes ago.
