The program starts up and runs decently but I can't move too fast or anything or else it crashes my computer and I have to manually turn it off

Specs: CPU = Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 1.7 Ghz
RAM = 1Ghz
Video = ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 256 MB

Is this perhaps not sufficient to run Celestia properly? Oh and I run Windows XP if that matters.

As symaski62 is trying to point out, Celestia uses advanced features of OpenGL. Unfortunately, AMD/ATI graphics drivers tend to have more bugs than the Nvidia drivers do. Be sure to update frequently to the most recent version of the drivers available from the manufacturer of your computer. You might also try the drivers available from ATI, although embedded chipsets might or might not work with their generic versions.

I've gone back to using the catalyst 7.1 drivers. Celestia works fine with that.

Newer drivers will not work for me. Celestia will lock up after 10 minutes if I don't use older drivers.
